Camotes Island, Philippines

I found the place from my Facebook friend's page, as soon as I saw the pictures, I felt excited to come see the place. So last September, I scheduled his visit here in the Philippines, and settled everything.

Getting there is easy, here's what to do:

1. Book a flight going to Cebu (if from Negros Occidental Island, via Bus Trip)
2. In Cebu, get a Taxi/Cab going to Danao Port. (Php 500.00, your lucky if the driver will charge via meter)
  • Best to go there early in the morning so no traffic.
  • Travel time if with traffic is 3 hrs.
  • Link to the Ferry Boat Schedules: Camotes Island Ferry Boat Schedules
  • Daily trips from Danao City Port (motorized banca and RORO boats)
3. Get a ticket to the available Ferry Boat at the port.
  • We arrived at 12 noon so the ferry boat was from Jomalia Shipping Corporation
  • Fare: with aircon is  Php 200.00, regular fare is Php 180.00
  • Travel time is approximately 2 hrs. from Danao Port to Camotes Island
  • There are some attendants who have contacts in the Island for transportion, for convenience we got the number of their contact in Camotes Island.
  • The means of transportation in the Island is Motorcycle of Tricycle.
  • We took the car (an old style van, but it's convenient inside) Fare is 150.00.

We checked in at Mangodlong Rock Beach Resort. Beach Front Room is Php 2,600.00 (with comfort room, aircon, electric fan, television, and two double size bed). There were  few guests and mostly foreigners. The food they served taste "so so", please don't order their garlic rice and the lowest prize is Php 150.00 good for 2 person/s. We spend like Php 500.00 each meal in the resort. I suggest you bring your own food. They  have amenities like jet ski, banana boat and kayak, but the rent fee is a bit expensive. We had a limited time so we managed to travel around the island the next day from 9 am - 12 noon. The resort offers Island Tours but we called the driver we had consigned before. We paid him Php 1,500.00 for the Island Tour and service going to the port. There are also some motorcycle or what they call "habal-habal" and Tricycle to rent for the Island Tour (Price is Php 300.00 more or less)

Here's some of our photos taken from the Island of Camotes:
